I love how in spring, nature shows her vulnerability and femininity with the appearance of delicate blooms. I find something so inspiring in the way that these fragile parts continue to appear, year after year, proving that something fragile and sweet can exists in a sometimes harsh world. The blooms have not hardened, they have not become like the sturdy branches or the durable leaves. They show up at the most wonderful times to sweeten the world and provide for the plant. And although they may be in appearance, they are really not that delicate at all. They are strong and smart and resilient…and whatever they endure during those mighty spring storms, they come back to face again next year. Strength and grace…what a beautiful combination!

~~Process is a series dedicated to the visual stories of authentic creation. Art is just as much about the act of creation, the steps taken, and the journey lived as it is about the outcome. This series serves to honor those steps and reflect the beauty they hold. You can read more about this series here.~~ 4 comments Just popping in at the tail end of one of our busiest, most chaotic weeks ever! School, swimming lessons, final dance classes, dreass rehersal, and tonight the dance recital! There have been hurried dinners, lessons on the fly, costume alterations, quick trips to the grocery store…you know, the stuff of life with kids! But I wanted to say hello, to thank you for your kind words and excitement about my new Process series, and to send you over to Paper Coterie to snag their new set of free printables! The printables are super cute this month! I’m thinking of framing a couple of them for around the house. There will be a new Process post this weekend and then hopefully some more regularity next week as things begin to settle down a bit around here! Happy Friday, friends! no comments
Process will be all about, well, the process of art and creating. I’m slightly obsessed with the process of creating. I never fully embraced an artistic life until I realized how much the process of creating had to offer. In my past, I was more of an outcome oriented gal. Art and crafting was more a means to an end rather than a journey and an experience. But these days, I am equally fascinated by the steps taken as I am by the final creation. Yarn being wound, paint brushes in a jar of water, beads getting strung together…there is a story in all of it that I am constantly drawn to. And I’d like to carve out a little corner here to share those stories. I’m trying to impose as few self imposed rules on this new series as I can. I’ll post these Process posts on the weekends because, quite frankly, that is most often the time when I’m able to lose myself in the act of creating. Images will taken right from whatever I’m working on, with life going on all around it. Because that’s how process…true, authentic process…is. It’s not all staged on white backgrounds in pretty set ups. In this house, art and creativity most often happen wherever I can carve out enough space to make it happen. And I think those elements add to the creation’s story. I cannot promise you a Process post every weekend and at this point, I cannot fully imagine what the scope of this new series could be. My original ideas have been inspired by knitting, photography, and art journaling…but if you consider life as art, it opens up a lot more possibilities for Process. This much I know… it will be honest, {hopefully} inspiring, and there will most likely be a lot of yarn! 11 comments |
