She is three today…my littlest…my baby! She is a force of nature, this Maya. Wildly amazing and deeply loving. We are celebrating her today…and all that she is and all that she has brought into our lives. I will share her birthday pictures and the special things I made just for her soon…but for now, for today, just this message to her…
Dear Maya,
Words cannot express how much I adore you! From the moment you were a part of it, my life has looked dramatically different from what it ever was before and I cannot imaging it without you and your beaming presence in it. I love everything that you are… your fierce yet tender nature, your unique and complex personality, the way you know exactly what you want and that you’re never afraid to ask for it, and how you always want to be near me…touching me…holding me. I love that you love the color yellow and Peter Pan…and that you do a mean impression of Captian Hook! I love that you adore your older sisters so much yet are completely okay with being your own little person. I love the way you say your ‘l’s like ‘r’s as in “Can I sit on your rap?” or “That baby is rookin’ at me” or, my personal favorite, “I ruv you so nuch”!
You’re getting so big…although I know you don’t like to talk about that. But I know that you are excited about all the things you’re now able to do…like ride a bike and draw a picture. You really are a good helper in the kitchen and Mommy enjoys your company there so much! I love the little person you are becoming and I hope it’s a long time before you outgrow wanting to be near me always…because I really like having you near me.
