Knitting & Reading…

Knitting & reading…two of my very favorite ways to spend my random and treasured pockets of free time! It has been quite a while since I participated in Ginny’s Yarn Along…mostly because I have been knitting gifts for quite some time and couldn’t reveal them here! But, alas, the holidays have passed and I have stockpiled a rather lengthy list of personal {ie: selfish} knitting projects to keep me busy during the cold winter months!

Right now I’m working on an Agnus from Quince & Co.’s publication Wool One. The pattern is simple and knits up super quickly! I’m using their Puffin yarn {as the pattern calls for} which is a bulky, soft, and warm yarn. The color is Dogwood and it’s a really soft and beautiful pink. It’s super cold here this week and I wish this sweater was done and ready to be worn…it is going to be so cozy! But, being that I live in Northeast PA, I’m sure to have a few more cold days headed my way before the winter is over!

Because the yarn is a thick, single ply yarn, it’s sometimes hard for my cold hands to maneuver it over the big needles. But thankfully, my amazing husband and daughters gifted me with the Addi Turbo needle set! These needles are like heaven!

I’m currently reading Catherine Friend’s Sheepish. I anticipated loving this book…I want to love this book…I just don’t yet. I don’t hate it and it’s a light read that certainly has its enjoyable qualities…but I’m half way through and I’m still waiting for that moment where I really get into it. I’ll let you know if it turns around!

So what crafty projects have you been working on lately? Are you reading anything? I would love to hear!

I’m so terrible with my craft projects. I have 3 knitting projects on the go and just haven’t made the time to do anything much on them. It doesn’t help that I’m not the world’s speediest knitter, my left-handedness muddles me. But I do really need to get these finished!

I am so in love with the colour of that yarn!

That looks like beautiful yarn. I’ve just started learning to crochet. I’m reading the language of flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh at the moment and really enjoying it so far.

Hi Maegan,
I have some good news to report; just got a new job 32 hr. a week and really close to home. Neat! I also got my first commission of the year to paint two dog portraits and I have total creative license to do them as I please. And I am sending off my entry into the Maine Fiber Frolic tee shirt/poster contest. So, lots going on right now. Even though last year ended with the loss of my job and everything being up in the air; the good Lord has blessed me with all these wonderful things.
Hugs,
Carol

On the needles is a hat for me, the last of the winter hats to be made, then it’s time to cast on for a few more baby knits, with around 5 weeks left to baby number 4′s arrival I have this overwhelming need to knit, booties, blankets and snuggle sacks! Plus some diapers and mama cloth! Yes the nesting and desire to sew and knit as much as I can has hit! Ha!

The sweater up there looks beautiful!

You have an extraordinary blog and nature journal. What inspiration. Thank you. Happy New Year! I look forward to keeping up with your posts.

You have an extraordinary blog. I love your nature journal. What inspiration! Thank you!!

These photos really make me want to love knitting……..but I just don’t!! I do so love the finished product but the needles aren’t for me and my poor thumbs with hacks resembling the grand canyon! I’ve just signed up for the One Little Word class as my crafty project and am looking forward to getting messy with paper and glue any day now!

I love your sweater! That yarn looks heavenly!

That book does sound interesting! Thanks for sharing it in the Yarn Along. Your knitting also looks great. I’m a fan of Quince & Co. yarn.

I’m sewing luxury dog beds for my dogs, my friends dog and my daughters dogs.

When I get tired of puncturing my self with pins, I knit on my beautiful cowl in the very same pink as your sweater.
It’s such a yummy colour! Can’t wait to finish it.

your knitting looks gorgeous. love the soft pink color.

Trying to make a fish hat for baby’s daddy. I just stopped before going into labour and have not picked it up again. I should do that with a sweet newborn who naps 4-5 hours on one stretch.

Agnes, Astrid, Anastasia and Katerin are on my to do list! Could you help me to do a choice? hihihihihihi!

Thanks for blogging on this as I’m just debating whether to start this project. Yours looks really great especially with the recommended wool it looks so soft. Have you encountered any problems along the way?

I’m not crafting much… fun art projects with the kiddos, the last one was painting treasure boxes and putting our special little things in them.
I’m reading Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. So far so good… I just started. I like her other books so I’m sure it will be a win for me.
Trying to keep up with my short daily journals and mini instant photos to go on the pages of the journal. Somedays will be missed but that’s ok, evidence of my busy life.

Cheers Friend~
Ivy
