A few months ago, I was standing in a bookstore, holding in my hands a book about two writers who were also friends. I inevitably began thinking of my friend, a creative and kindred soul, Corinne. Randomly, in that moment, I knew that she and I needed to collaborate creatively somehow. I did not know how, specifically…but I knew there was a project out there in the Universe just for us! I didn’t push the thinking. I didn’t plot, plan, or brainstorm to try to come up with what our collaboration should be. I simply just let it linger a bit…a possibility and an inevitability…that would present itself in due time.
A few weeks ago, the idea presented itself in the clearest fashion. Corinne would write, I would take a picture, and {without discussing either} we would combine them weekly and see what connections sprang forth. I so love the words that Corinne has woven to describe our project…
……………………………………………………….
“We thrive on what would seem to a passer-byer to be irrelevant connections, but those irrelevant ties lay the foundation for relationships. The ordinary becomes a connection. We have realized that our lives as mothers, daughters, wives, artists, women… have connections to each other that we could not imagine. Soul sisters that although create in different mediums, and at first glimpse the themes might seem irrelevant, are actually living, thinking, dreaming and creating similarly. Our art, our lives are relevant to each other.
Thoughtfully Irrelevant has been created to pair Corinne’s words and Maegan’s photographs. On a weekly basis we will separately work on a piece, and then come together without conversing about our selection. We will post C’s words, and M’s photo here, and from there see what ties we can find between our possibly irrelevant creations. We believe that in some way, by some force, there will be connections. There will be truths discovered and our sister-artist language will be deeper understood. This is a place where we will encourage each other, grow independently and jointly, sharing and hopefully inspiring as we continue on this journey.”

I’m so excited about this project! I’m excited to be working creatively with Corinne and I’m so excited to find the layers of connection and meaning that will be woven and intertwined in the combinations of our weekly pieces. And, if I do say so myself, our very first pairing is pure magic! I do hope you’ll stop over and have a look…and I hope you’ll join us there each Monday for a new pairing and new magical, inevitable connections!
