Peaks Island {the bikes}…

Peaks is a small island; only three and one half miles. So bikes are a way of life on the island; a simple and effective way to get almost anywhere you’d need to be. It is a heavenly sort of place for someone life me who gets three shades of giddy over vintage bicycles with baskets on the front and oodles of character! So I thought I’d share some of them here with you on this summery {US holiday} weekend!

I’ll be in tomorrow with our next Sunday Creative prompt…but if I don’t see you, all you US residents have an amazing Fourth of July and all you out-of-country friends enjoy this lovely day!

I so want to go there now, Maegan! Your pictures and descriptions sound just like a place I would love to visit. Have a great weekend!

Love Love that first shot!

I have wonderful memories of Peaks Island! I went there once with my godmother when I was maybe 8 or 10? We would take long walks on the beach and rescue the starfish that had gotten stranded after the tide went out. Days were spend on her porch coloring pictures of “pretty ladies” and I am sure lots of ice cream was eaten. It was a magical place. Thank you for sharing your images and stirring up some treasured memories for me :)

gorgeous photos! it makes me want to go there RIGHT NOW. i love vintage bikes too :)

Excellent photos! Now I REALLY want to go there! Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

There is something so… intimate about your photography. I’m not a photographer, so it’s hard for me to put my finger on it. Nostalgic, tender, beautiful, gentle, inviting, memories, pastel, poetic… these are just some of the words that come to mind.

Actually, it’s odd, since they are so different from my usual art… yet they draw me. For whatever reason… I love your work. Thank you for sharing it here!

Not sure if you were aware of that.

Love your pictures of the bikes….looks like a lovely place to be.

Makes me want to buy a bike – then I remember when I’m home I live on a mountain.

They’re so rustic and beautiful. Picturesque and all 😉 Happy 4th!

These photo’s are causing me all sorts of nostalgia. You’re an amazing photographer. Happy 4th of July!!!

M- I’m loving the colorful frames on these! My favorite is that red bike – beautiful!

Beautiful photos! Love the vintage tones!

There’s a little island in southwest Florida called Sanibel. It is one of my most favorite places in the world. And one of the reasons I love it is because bike transportation is vital and necessary and a way of life. There is something symbolic about bike transportation living in a society that is so dependent on cars and trains and planes. I love the simplicity, the rustic{?? there’s gotta be a better word} nature of it.

{Also, sometimes I think you and I were separated at birth. ;)}

Oh, I just love your photos. We just went to Peak’s for the day this past week, and we totally saw that red bike! My friend commented that she wished that red plastic lowes basket wasn’t upfront, because it ruined the perfect shot. But, you managed to capture it beautifully!

Love the bike shots. We just moved to Copenagen, Denmark and it is definitely a biking culture. Looks like you live in a lovely place.
